Avoca, PA (August 15, 2018) – The Bi-County Airport Board and Team AVP are pleased to announce that Southern Airways Express, the fast-growing regional carrier that operates daily flights to seven Pennsylvania cities, announces new air service between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AVP) and Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). The flight is currently being operated by Regional Sky. Southern will assume the route beginning September 5, 2018 with twice daily service. One-way fares start at just $129.
“As Pennsylvania’s hometown airline, we are proud to add Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to our growing network throughout the Commonwealth and the mid-Atlantic region,” said Southern’s Chairman and CEO Stan Little. “We believe these fast, frequent, and affordable flights will be well-received by business and leisure flyers in both Northeast Pennsylvania and throughout the Pittsburgh region.”
Southern will provide two non-stops in each direction, with weekday departures from Pittsburgh at 8:15 AM and 4:00 PM. Flights departing from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton will be at 10:10 AM and 5:55 PM. A limited time promotional fare of $129 is available for all seats purchased before August 31, 2018.
